This close-up of the plugged holes for the front section of the guide
scope dovetail bar truly shows how well the small cones of painters
tape easily fit. With the sticky side out and a light twist of the
plugs into the threaded holes, it worked effectively in holding the
them in place. They should hold fast during priming and painting.
As for the mounting holes for the objective cell and focuser
backplate, there is no need to plug the holes up with the painters
tape cones, since the holes will only be used for the mounting
hardware to pass through and engage the threads of the respective main
tube's end component being mounted. But, I still would not recommend
that you overload these holes with primer and paint to the point you
are unable to insert the screws that will be used to attach these
components with.
Also note the beautiful matte surface produced
by the Scotch-Brite pad. You will have a hard time trying to find
swirl marks. Now it finally time to prime the main tube! |
