To begin the task of spacing the knife-edge baffles along the threaded
rods, I first took the overall distance between the first and last
baffle and made certain that the rods were long enough to hold and
properly space them . Then, to establish accuracy across the entire
length of the baffle rack, I began with the knife-edge baffle that was
closest to the objective, making certain that the beveled side of the
baffle faced toward the focuser, and that all three (3) threaded 'rod end measurements'
from the first baffle were the same exact distance to establish a starting point for
which the remaining three (3) baffles would be spaced from.
In the photo
above, after precisely securing the first baffle (left) to begin the
construction of the baffle rack, and using it
as the reference point, I started spacing the remaining knife-edge
baffles along the threaded rods making certain that the measured
distance between all four (4) baffles were accurate along each rod. |
