Here is a look down the huge 8" outside diameter dew shield for the
"Gelinda J. Dawson" refractor. It is now ready to be flocked, starting
with the Rustoleum Truck Bed Liner Paint as the primer basecoat. I
could have used typical primer, but I thought I would try the bed
liner to see how well it works. Especially since it is a product that
was designed to be exposed to the elements and is abrasion resistant.
In addition to the
exterior, as you can see at the bottom of the interior of the dew
shield in the photo, I also masked off a 1" strip section with
painters tape where it will slid onto the objectives rear lens cell
that is in front of the transition piece. There is no need to flock or
paint this area, since it will not be seen or exposed. Notice also,
how I masked off the very front edge of the dew shield with the
painters tape too.
