North Star II Field Tripod Construction - Fabrication of the Faceplates 2

The faceplates for the NS II are comprised of two different sized aluminum plates cut from a collection of scrap aluminum I acquired some years ago. The small plates will be used on the opposite side of the hinge that connects to the accessory tray during setup of the tripod for observing. A total of three (3) of these plates (the upper most faceplate on each the legs - one per leg - see diagram HERE) will be used. The large plates will be fabricated to effective hold the leg together, and as the main support when the "adjustable center legs" are extended and retracted. A total of twelve (12) of these plates will be needed to make the faceplates. They will be installed below the accessory tray faceplate on the outside and inside of each leg. Two (2) outside, and two (2) inside each leg. Please refer to the diagram for more details.
