Improvisation successful! The focuser backplate fit inside of the main
tube perfectly! Also all three (3) 120-degree spaced 1/4"-20 holes in
both the focuser backplate (threaded) and main tube (unthreaded) lined
up beautifully for permanent mounting. Goes to show who far a little
off-the-cuff ingenuity can go.
Well, we still have a long way
to go in the build of the Jaegers 6" f/10 "Gelinda J. Dawson"
refractor. But, much has been accomplished thus far. Both the focuser
and objective components machined by Eric Moerman have been completed
and ready for installation. All that is left in order to perform the
overall test fit of the external OTA parts, is to drill the mounting
holes in the dew shield, which is the next step. |
