In the foreground, here are the four (4) polycarbonate baffles cut to
the proper diameter of 6.7" and ready to have the knife-edge cut into
them. At this stage of the fabrication of the knife-edge baffles.
please do not be alarmed at the edges of the disks. This is only the
frayed ends of the plastic protective coating/ liner. But, I will not
be removing it until the knife-edges have been milled in each.
As you may have already surmised, once again I will be using the
sacrificial circle of wood in conjunction with the Bosch laminate
trimmer/ router to perform the task of forming the knife-edges in each
of the baffles for the Jaegers 6" f/10 "Gelinda J. Dawson refractor.
But, I will be using a groove cutting bit instead of the up-cut
spiral, and a different Jasper that allows me to cut even smaller
circles than the previous one used earlier.
NOTE!!! --- The noise shielding head phones
in the photo are there as a reminder to be sure to where every means
of protective gear when making these baffles. |
