Measuring the knife-edge aperture opening in the fourth baffle, once
again verified and proved the merits of this new knife-edge baffle making process
that I created. I claim the fame, since in my research, I have not run
across anyone utilizing this method in making baffles. In any case,
the end result was a precise 5.7" opening exactly as called for in the
design.
This concludes the initial cutting out of the four (4)
knife-edge baffles for the Jaegers 6" f/10 "Gelinda J. Dawson"
refractor. I truly hope that the process will catch on within the ATM
community as a viable, inexpensive, easy-to-make, yet precision method
for creating one most important components in refractors.
We
will now proceed to the finishing process of the four (4) knife-edge
baffles, followed by the fabrication of the baffle rack.
