As mentioned on the previous page, the pre-drilled marks engraved in the main tube established the
location to mount the two (2) oak handle supports. One side was label
"X", and the other side "O". Not only will the
letters signify the side the handle will go on, but also its
orientation to the main tube. Therefore, the hole in the wood handle support that has
the "X" closest to it will be matched to the hole with the "X"
designation on the main tube. And the hole at the other end of the wood
support will be connected to the hole on the same side of the tube that
has no designation. And since the holes were established by a paper
template (shown later), the proper orientation should guarantee the
two (2) handles are evenly spaced.
