Now that the height adjustment components have been installed on the North Star II field tripod legs, it is time to assemble all of the wood parts that make up each of the three legs. This done prior to applying several coats of HelmsmanŽ Spar Varnish to each leg.

To assemble the wood components, I first inserted the 3/8" bolts that will attached the completed leg to the panhead, which properly lines up the two "outside main leg support" side. Then, measuring about 7" inches from the top of the leg, I marked the location where the bottom end of the "adjustable center leg stop" would go on the inside of one of the "outside main leg supports". The "adjustable center leg stop" carefully positioned, locked in place with a clamp, drilled and screwed into place. One wood screw was installed on one side and two on the other. As you may recall, the 2"x2" "adjustable center leg stops" has a 1/4" extension attached to allow the "adjustable center leg" to slide freely between the "outside main leg supports".
