Unrolled and lying atop my workbench is the 60"x 26" sheet of the
ProtoStar FlockBoard I purchased for the "GJD". It is truly as great
product. I know the cost can be somewhat prohibitive, but the end
result will be worth the added expense. This is the best paint for
flocking I ever used. When I cut it to fit into the main tube, its
dimensions will be approximately 49" in length, and 21" wide. Given
these final size measurements, the little waste retained can be used
for smaller flocking projects, like focusers, and for small telescopic
instruments.
I know, I know... I did not mention an alternative
flocking choice earlier, but I will here. My second choice would have been to
use Rustoleum Camouflage flat black spray enamel paint. I used it on
the dew shield for the "GJD", as you will see later in the build
overview.
PLEASE NOTE !!! - Though I mentioned that I
used the Rustoleum Camouflage flat black paint on the inside surfaces
of the objective cell and focuser backplate components, actually I did
not. :^( But, I did use it to flock my dew shield with fantastic
results! So, I thought I would make reference of the product
throughout the build to get ATM'ers on the bandwagon. This is truly a
great flocking product. |
