In flocking the inside of the main tube for the Jaegers 6" f/10 "Gelinda J. Dawson"
refractor, there were several options to consider. But, rather than
elaborate on those other options, I will bypass mentioning those,
(which I am sure most of you know so well) and let
you know that I decide on using ProtoStar FlockBoard. It is a
low-density plastic sheet backed flocking material, as seen rolled up
next to the main tube in the photo above. I purchased a 60" length
piece of their 26" wide, .040" thick product from ProtoStar Telescope
Making and Upgrading, in Worthington, OH. This is some serious
flocking material that I highly recommend! I even used it in my Carton
100mm f/13 "Mary Dawson" refractor, and plan to add it to my first
scope, the Coulter 10" f/5.6 "Gary Barabino" equatorial fork mounted
Newtonian reflector, my first major ATM project. Truly awesome stray
light absorbing stuff!
Now let's get this show on the road! |
