North Star Tripod - Construction Overview - Ready to Travel!

With testing complete, and another great observing event to store in our memories, the VSC “North Star” Field Tripod gave a splendid performance. Removal of the CG-5 EQ, 8” Konus OTA, and Accessory Tray was all it took to transform the North Star into an easily transportable unit. In the image above, we see the collapsed unit with the Accessory Tray leaning against it. As you can see, the footprint of the tripod is quite small. It can be loading into the trunk of most vehicles with room to spare.

I am considering building more units like this to sell to the general astronomical community, should interest ensues. If I decide to do so, I will place an ad on the home page of the VSC.
