In this section, we will cover some of the most significant steps in the building of the prototype VSC "North Star" Field Tripod. I must point out I had to complete the construction of this project in haste. For it had to be ready in short order to travel back to Louisiana with Gary Barabino. So, I did not capture as many images during the construction phases of the tripod as I would have liked to. Nevertheless, I believe this overview will provide the average ATM'er with adequate information to help in building one of these units. To get the ball rolling, please click on the first image in the upper left hand corner. Please keep in mind, by clicking on any of the images on the following pages they will provide you with an enlarged view. Also, keep in mind that the full sized images can be rendered even larger by utilizing the "expand" feature once the image has been opened. To do this, once you click on the image at the top of each page, which opens a new page containing the expandable full sized photo, just place your mouse on the image and wait for expansion icon to appear in the lower right-hand corner of the photo, then click it. Hope you are not using a dial-up connection, for the photos are quite large in size. The ability to enlarge the photos was done to allow for closer inspection; a feature seldom used. I did this because, as an avid surfer of astronomy websites, on many occasions, I wanted to see a bigger image of a particular image to see more detail. It is true, that a picture can say a thousand words, and the more detail you convey, the more satisfied the viewer will be. It almost goes with out saying!
