| Here is a
picture of the focuser for the "Brigadier General Richard Pierce" 127mm
f/9.4 refractor. Actually, it was given to me by the general himself!
The rack and pinion focuser has a 2.7" inch O.D. fully baffled
drawtube that accepts 2" accessories. The focuser came from a
Meade 127ED refractor and has about 5.5" inches of travel. Its
construction is all metal, but is usually given bad reviews by amateurs.
Well, this one has been improved and performs better than before. More
on modifications of the focuser later.
