After completing the flocking process to the focuser backplate and
objective cell parts, I covered up the flocked areas (and other spots
I did not want to paint) of the backplate and commenced to painting
its external outer surface with the black Rustoleum Hammered Finished
spray enamel. Actually the color appears more close to charcoal gray
rather than black. As the paint cured, it gradually developed the
mottled appearance you see before you in the image above. Click the

The piece
will be left to partially cure for a couple of days before I remove
the tape to expose the finished component. |
