Jaegers 6" f/10 "GJD" OTA Construction - Main Tube Prep (drill holes for focuser backplate - 1)

1/16-inch starter holes drilled in Main Tube to receive the Focuser Backplate - 1 (Click to see an enlarged image.)

With the drilling, alignment and test fit of the objective lens cell components to the main tube complete, let us traverse to the business end of the telescope to begin drilling of the holes for attachment of the focuser backplate to the main tube. As I did with the rear lens cell, I will use the focuser backplate as a template to establish and mark the location where I will be drilling the starter 1/16" holes in the main tube. Why initially a small bit? This is because it increases accuracy. With the small holes drilled, I can increase the size of the three (3) holes by using progressively larger bits, until I get to the 1/4" final size, which turned out to be three (3).
