Before the nuts can be adhered to the main tubes interior with epoxy, the sanded and buffed areas around the holes must be cleaned of the aluminum residue completely. To do this, I used a terry cloth towel saturated with a bit of paint thinner (mineral spirits) and wiping thoroughly. Before epoxying can begain, I allowed ample time for the mineral spirits to evaporate totally.
