The use of the Scotch Brite scouring pad with its 600-grit grain buffed the area around the hole quite well to prepare the surface for gluing down the nuts to the inside of the main tube for the dovetail bar. Between the 100 and 660-grit sanding materials, I used 220-grit. Now the residue has to be removed.
