Using the cut-off tool, I ground notches in the first two (2)
knife-edge baffles at the focuser end of the baffle rack to allow it
to pass by the two (2) sets of nuts inside of the main tube that will
be used for mounting of the guide scope. I only cut the first two
baffles, because when I slide the baffle rack into the main tube, I
will be doing so from the objective end. This means that only the two
(2) knife-edge baffles at the focuser end of the will need to pass by
the guide scope nuts, while the other two (2) closest to the objective
will never need to go down the main tube that far. As for the
counterweight system, I needed to cut notches in all four (4), because
all of the baffles will have to pass by at least one of its mounting
nuts inside the main tube.
As an added plus, the notches will
serve another vital purpose in allowing air currents to flow through
the inside of the main tube without created zones or pockets of
trapped air against each baffle; thereby aiding in faster temperature
acclimation prior to observing sessions. |
