Here we see the main wood
components that make up the NS II field tripod all cut out. Closer
inspection will also show that I have beveled the tops of all six
"outer main leg supports" grouped to the right. A notch will be
added to the bottom end of the "outer main leg supports" for
each of the three leg sets. These notches will serve to attach
stainless steel hinges that will be used to lock the "adjustable
center legs" when they are extended for the height of the
tripod. The "adjustable center legs stops" were
also created at this time and have been set atop the six outer leg
components. A
1/4" strip of plywood will be attached to the "adjustable center
legs stops" to add adequate spacing between the "outer main leg
supports" so that the "adjustable center legs" can slide freely
between them (see next page). The three stakes on the left are the
"adjustable center legs" themselves. Whew!!! That's a mouth full!
