To support the VSC/ SAO 127mm f/9.4 Brigadier General Richard Pierce refractor, I wanted to build an improved version of the North Star prototype field tripod I constructed for my colleague Gary Barabino's telescope. So, after careful thought to instill better construction by using better design practices and components, the North Star II was born. And want a sweet baby she is!. In this four part overview, I will show you the step-by-step construction of this awesome field tripod. We will start as we did with the prototype by fabricating the panhead and finishing with the accessory tray. So let's get started by clicking on the upper lefthand thumbnail above.
