Both cradle rings and their adapter plates have been joined together
with stainless steel hardware, and are now all set to be attached to
the custom dovetail plate.
The only issue that I have with
these vintage cradle rings from the Optica B/C are that their inside
diameter is larger than I had anticipated. I would have figured that
they would have fit a 7" OD tube with a thin felt liner.
Unfortunately, when the arrived and I performed a test fit, there was
a significant gap between the outside wall of the main tube and the
inside wall of the unlined rings; over a quarter of an inch! Oh well,
as you will see later, I found a fix that solved the problem. |
